A network is a group of computers where two or more computers are connected with one and another to share information and resources. There are 4 types of computer network: Local Area Network, World Area Network, Personal Area Network, Metropolitan Area Network. Computer networks are highly flexible and file sharing is easier. 

 

A router is a networking device that is used in LAN and WAN networks. The common home network device is called a router. Routers connect a modem to other devices to allow communication between those devices and the internet. A router sends and receives data on a computer network. There are different types of router such as wired router, wireless router, core router, virtual router. 

 

Switch is a networking device that connects with multiple devices to create a network. Multiple data cables are plugged into a switch to enable communication between different network devices. There are multiple data cables plugged into a switch to enable communication with other devices. Switches are mainly used for business networks that connect with computers, printers, scanners, phones.
